Your Cinder Grill must be calibrated for thickness before the first time you use it. After you calibrate it once, you should not need to calibrate it again.
You may need to calibrate your Cinder if an error occurred the first time you calibrated it. To do so, press the knob button on the Cinder Grill for a long time, then you can recalibrate.
